I had to work on Saturday, but wasn't too nonplussed since I knew it would take me to a town where I'd briefly glimpsed an interesting flash of red in a used lot last week. I'd told myself then that I needed to come back to see what it was. Well, I did, and it was worth it. And eventually, the whole day turned into a very Oppo day, so here are some photos of the things I saw. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
First up, it was a beautiful day today. Temps in the 70s, a nice breeze, golden sunshine; just perfect. And, as always happens on gorgeous days in Texas, people brought out their bikes. Yeah, I wasn't trying to take a photo of that Harley, I was trying to take a photo of the scooter behind it. I don't know what it is, but I really liked it. And that was the only safe moment when I could even try for a photo since we were all stopped at a light.
Then, I ran across this pretty sweet El Camino. That hood ornament is not too shabby, either. And the vanity plate made me laugh.
Then, once I was finished with my work obligations, I drove around looking for that small car lot again. Turns out it's also a shop. The flash of red I had seen was still there, and it was a Porsche! 1986 944, pretty well maintained. It was in for some electrical work, and had dealer plates. I'm jelly. One of the shop techs and I had a pretty good conversation about it, and about the importance of good handshakes, lol.
Then I was off to a rodeo some miles away. Stopped in at a gas station for snacks and to check Oppo, of course. I looked up and saw this parked next to me. I asked the driver if I could shoot it out in the sun and he said sure. I gotta admit, I don't much care for Challengers, but I had a BLAST shooting this one. And the owner was really cool. He was stoked that I wanted to photograph it, even if it was just with my phone. Oh yeah, btw, these are all iPhone photos. The photos of this custom Challenger are, hands down, my favorite of the whole day.
Finally made it out to the rodeo fairgrounds and I accidentally parked on the opposite end of where the gate was. But hey! They changed the layout from previous years, so... kinda not my fault, lol. Anyway, when I'd finally walked across the entire parking lot, I was greeted with a bunch of cars and trucks that were on display from a local Ford dealership. They brought this one Mustang along, drowning in a sea of future bro-trucks. The two sales guys looked kinda bored, so I stopped to talk and ask them about the 'stang. I asked if it was 6 or 8 cylinders and one of them said 4. When I excitedly replied back "Oh! It's an EcoBoost! A Boostang!" He laughed and asked me how I knew, lol. Dude... chicks dig cars, too, man! Lol.
But it was all good. We ended up chatting for about 10 minutes, talking about our favorite cars. Turns out, he hates the fox body 'stangs as much as I do. I told him I'd love to test drive one of the '15s, but I didn't want to be a dick and waste some sales guy's time since I'm not looking to buy a car right now. He invited me to visit his dealership anytime for that test drive, anyway. I told him about Oppo, too, so he was excited about it. He hadn't heard of Oppo or Jalopnik before (really?), but he said I was more than welcome to take a 2015 for a spin and a review. So... maybe I'll be doing my first Oppo review soon? ^_^
Well, once the rodeo was over, all the traffic control stuff meant I had to take a pretty huge detour. I ended up at another gas station to wash some of the rodeo dust off, and of course, check Oppo again. I looked up and saw this 2013 V8 Mustang in the lot a couple of spaces away. I didn't see the driver around, but snapped a few photos anyway. By the time I was ready to leave the station, the driver and his partner were returning to the car, too. I said hello, told them I'd photographed their car, and expressed how jealous I was, hehe. They were pretty friendly and we ended up laughing as we wished each other a good night.
So, there ya go! A little bit of what I did and saw on an absolutely perfect Saturday. Hope y'all enjoyed the photos! ^_^

"but wasn't too nonplussed"
That hurts more than the Hangover I'm going to suffer in a few hours.
Send me that El Camino and we can call it even.

Red seems to have been the color of the day
You definitely need to do a Mustang test drive/review! And you should check out a proper hatchback Fiesta while you're there ;)

It certainly was! But I gotta admit, I'm kinda swooning over that yellow. It just looks so pretty on a sunny day. ^_^
And thanks, Dusty! :-)

I love messing with lens flares. Sometimes I'll dirty up my lens to acquire the effect. Here's an example:

Yeah, it was ridiculously bright out. I didn't notice that my lens was dirty in those frames until I got back home. The flare actually irks me because it's muddying up some pretty shots.

Me, too! In the sea of bloated Harleys I saw cruising down the highway yesterday (seriously, must've seen about 50 bikes in a half hour's time, most of them Harleys) that little scooter was the coolest thing on two wheels I saw. Wish I could've taken a decent photo of it.

Those are very good photos, even for a dedicated camera, especially of that Challenger!

Nice pictures. I really like the closeups of the Challenger emblem and fuel door for some reason.

oooohhhhh BOOSTANG!!!
I have yet to see one. They don't sell a lot of Ford Mustangs in Canada, in January.

I'm just going to hang up my photography hat. You've got me beaten, by a long shot.
Okay, I'm not hanging up my photog hat, but you're still incredible at the photo thing.

Hehe. I imagine not. There's not really anything to visually differentiate it from the others. Anyhoo, I'm seriously considering that sales guy's offer to test drive it, even if that dealership is a pretty fair drive away.
And... How are ya, boss?!?! Long time no see! I hope things are going well with you. You should drop by CAH again sometime. We've been having earlier games as of late, and it'd be good to see you again. ^_^

"…by a long shot." What you did there, I see it! Hehehe.
And hush, Rotors. I've been at this for a bit longer than you, hon. Your shots are just fine, too. Thank you for the compliment, though. ^_^

Thank you, HHYSLSUAGHCYMTA! Sheesh, that's a mouthful even abbreviated, hehehe.
Is it weird that I always get a little excited whenever I see one of your comments? Because you're usually just a silent presence, so when I see one I'm like, "he speaks!" Hehehe.

I am doing well thank you. I had a great christmas and new years and stuff.
I have tried to get more sleep which explains my CAH's absence, because I wake up at like 5am EST.

Somehow I doubt that's true. Maybe you're just afraid no one will listen? Like I said, I always notice when you comment. I'm sure others do, too. ^_^ Hope you're having a great day.
